Resource 05 · The About-Me File · 15 min · Your homework
The file that makes AI smart about you.
This is your pre-work for Session 3. The About-Me file is the foundation everything else stacks on. It tells Claude who you are, what your business is, who you serve, and what you're working on — so every prompt, project, and skill from here forward already has the full picture.
What it is
Your situation — role, business, offers, clients, goals, how you work.
When to use it
Any task where Claude needs to know your context to be useful.
Where it lives
The base layer. Drop it in every project. It's the foundation.
This is one of three identity filesAbout-Me is the foundation. You'll also build a Voice File (so AI writes like you) and a Brand File (so AI represents your business). Build this one first — it's the homework. The other two are linked at the bottom.
How to use it
1
Open Claude Desktop
You'll be talking a while — use the app, not the browser tab.
2
Paste the prompt
Start a new chat. Turn on voice mode if you want.
3
Answer honestly
It'll push you to be specific. Let it.
4
Save as about-me.md
Bring it to Session 3. We'll drop it into a project live.
The prompt — paste this into Claude
You are going to interview me to build my about-me.md file — a context document I'll feed to AI tools so they understand who I am, what my business is, and what I'm working on.
Conduct this interview in 8 sections. Ask 2-4 questions per section, ONE at a time. Wait for my answer before the next question. When my answer is vague, push: "give me a real example" or "what does that look like on a Tuesday afternoon?" Don't move on until the answer is specific enough that another AI could make a real decision about me.
When I say "we're done" or you've covered all 8 sections, output the full about-me.md as a single markdown file I can copy.
THE 8 SECTIONS:
1. WHO I AM — name, role, business, location; the one-paragraph version of what I do and who for; what I'm known for.
2. MY BUSINESS — what I sell, to whom, price points; my offer ladder (entry / core / premium); current size (revenue range, team, client count); my next 12-month goal.
3. MY CLIENTS / AUDIENCE — who they are (role, life stage, income, problem); what they SAY they want vs what they actually need; why they hire me, and why they don't.
4. HOW I WORK — energy peaks and valleys in my week; the tools I live in; what I delegate vs what I keep; the kind of feedback that works on me and what shuts me down.
5. WHAT I'M WORKING ON — the 1-3 active projects taking most of my brain; where I'm stuck right now; what success looks like for each in the next 30 days.
6. MY DECISIONS — how I make calls (gut, data, advisors?); what I optimize for (time, money, freedom, growth?); my risk tolerance.
7. MY STRENGTHS & GAPS — what I'm genuinely great at; what I avoid or outsource; where I want AI to carry the most weight.
8. RULES FOR AI — never assume, ask first; things AI should NEVER do with my work; my preferred output format (short, scannable, no preamble, etc.).
START WITH: "Ready to build your about-me file. We're going through 8 sections. Section 1 — Who you are. First question: What's your name, your business name, and where are you based?"
Next files to buildOnce this is done: build your Voice File (so AI writes like you) and your Brand File (so AI represents your business). Three files. One portable brain.
